Speak Up for the Poor

Speak Up for the Poor is a US-based international non-profit organization, which educates and defends girls in poverty. Speak Up also provides legal intervention and advocacy for abused girls, promotes education for young girls, and helps run a safe home for girls removed from brothels in Bangladesh. Huq Foundation USA contributes to the Girls Education Program (GEP), which helps over 1,400 girls in 30 villages, serving girls from 6th grade through high school and college. Since 2017, Huq Foundation sponsors the education of 32 girls in the villages of Dhopakhola and Jamira. The Huq Foundation’s support provides for daily academic tutoring for these girls in the GEP, as well as financial assistance toward books, school supplies, school uniforms, and school enrollment and test fees, helping impoverished and vulnerable girls to stay in school.  The annual donation is $7,000 and this is one of our annual projects.
